1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the RIKOOP application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and RIKOOP ("we," "us," or "our"). We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. The current version is always available at rikoop.com/terms.

2. Description of Service

RIKOOP is a wellness application designed for use with Apple Watch and Apple Health. The App provides:

  • Biological Reserve scoring based on overnight biometric data
  • Recovery, Sleep, and Strain scores derived from Apple HealthKit
  • Daily Directive — a plain-language energy and readiness summary
  • Notification-based coaching throughout the day
  • Journal logging and lifestyle pattern analysis
  • Trend tracking and historical data visualization
  • Illness and anomaly signal detection
  • Optional iCloud Sync for journal entries and preferences

RIKOOP is available in two tiers: a free plan with limited features and a Premium plan with full access to all features including notifications, Strain tab, Trends tab, and advanced analytics.

3. Medical Disclaimer — Please Read Carefully

RIKOOP IS NOT A MEDICAL DEVICE. RIKOOP is designed for general wellness and informational purposes only. It is not intended to and does not diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, or prevent any disease, disorder, or medical condition. It does not provide medical advice, clinical recommendations, or professional health guidance. It does not replace the advice, diagnosis, or treatment of a qualified healthcare provider. It does not serve as a substitute for emergency medical services.

All scores, metrics, recommendations, and insights provided by RIKOOP — including but not limited to Recovery Score, Biological Reserve, Sleep Score, Strain Score, Daily Directive, Body Stress alerts, illness detection alerts, and pattern insights — are wellness indicators based on consumer-grade biometric data. They are not clinically validated measurements and should not be interpreted as medical findings.

Body Stress alerts and anomaly detection features do not diagnose illness, infection, or any medical condition. These features identify patterns in biometric data that deviate from your personal baseline. Deviation from baseline does not indicate disease.

IF YOU BELIEVE YOU ARE EXPERIENCING A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, CALL EMERGENCY SERVICES IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT DELAY SEEKING MEDICAL ATTENTION BASED ON INFORMATION PROVIDED BY RIKOOP.

Before beginning any new exercise program, changing your health routine, or making decisions about your physical or mental health, consult a qualified healthcare professional. RIKOOP has not been reviewed, cleared, or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or any other regulatory body.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use RIKOOP. By using the App you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

RIKOOP is not designed for use by individuals with serious medical conditions, implanted medical devices, or conditions that affect heart rate, sleep, or biometric data in ways that could produce misleading readings. If you have such conditions consult your physician before using RIKOOP.

5. Apple Watch and Apple Health Requirement

RIKOOP requires an Apple Watch and an iPhone running iOS 17.0 or later. Certain features require specific Apple Watch models:

  • Basic features: All Apple Watch models
  • Advanced sleep staging and HRV: Apple Watch Series 4 or later
  • Blood oxygen: Apple Watch Series 6 or later
  • Wrist temperature: Apple Watch Series 8 or later

RIKOOP reads data exclusively from Apple HealthKit. You must grant RIKOOP the requested HealthKit permissions for the App to function. You may revoke these permissions at any time in iPhone Settings. Revoking permissions will reduce or eliminate the App's ability to provide scores and insights.

RIKOOP makes no representations about the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of biometric data provided by Apple Watch or Apple Health. Sensor data from consumer wearables is subject to measurement error and should not be used as a substitute for clinical measurement.

6. Accounts and Premium Subscription

6.1 No Account Required

RIKOOP does not require you to create an account. No email address, password, or personal registration is required to use the App.

6.2 Premium Subscription

RIKOOP Premium is available through three purchasing options:

  • Monthly subscription: Auto-renewing monthly at the price displayed at time of purchase
  • Annual subscription: Auto-renewing annually at the price displayed at time of purchase
  • Lifetime access: A one-time non-recurring purchase that provides permanent Premium access

All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and governed by Apple's Terms of Sale. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You may manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID account settings.

6.3 Refunds

All purchase and refund matters are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's App Store policies. RIKOOP has no ability to issue refunds directly. Contact Apple Support for refund requests.

6.4 Free Tier

The free tier of RIKOOP provides access to basic features as described in the App. We reserve the right to change what features are included in the free tier at any time with reasonable notice.

7. Privacy and Data

Your privacy is fundamental to how RIKOOP is designed. All biometric and health data processed by RIKOOP is handled on your device and never transmitted to RIKOOP servers.

RIKOOP includes an optional iCloud Sync feature (enabled by default) that stores your journal entries and app preferences — not health or biometric data — in your personal iCloud account. This allows your journal history and settings to persist across devices and phone transfers. You may disable iCloud Sync at any time in Profile → iCloud Sync. Health data, recovery scores, HRV, sleep data, and all HealthKit-derived data are never stored in iCloud.

8. Intellectual Property

RIKOOP, its logo, name, design, algorithms, and all content within the App are the intellectual property of RIKOOP and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the App
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Remove any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
  • Use the App for any commercial purpose without our written consent
  • Use the RIKOOP name, logo, or branding without our written consent

9. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use RIKOOP to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App or its systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the App
  • Engage in any conduct that restricts or inhibits anyone's use of the App
  • Use the App in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair the App
  • Attempt to bypass, disable, or circumvent any security or access control feature
  • Use automated means to access or collect data from the App

10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

10.1 No Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; that any scores, recommendations, or insights will be accurate or appropriate for your situation; that the App will meet your specific health, wellness, or fitness needs; or that data from Apple HealthKit or Apple Watch will be accurate or complete.

10.2 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, RIKOOP AND ITS DEVELOPERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY: indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages; loss of health, physical injury, or death resulting from reliance on App data; loss of data, profits, revenue, or business opportunities; decisions made based on scores, recommendations, or alerts provided by the App; inaccurate biometric readings from Apple Watch or Apple Health; failure to detect illness, overexertion, injury risk, or any medical condition; or damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App. THIS LIMITATION APPLIES REGARDLESS OF THE LEGAL THEORY ASSERTED AND EVEN IF RIKOOP HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN JURISDICTIONS THAT DO NOT ALLOW EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

10.3 Physical Activity Risk

Use of RIKOOP in connection with physical activity carries inherent risks. The App's recommendations regarding exercise intensity, recovery, and strain are general wellness suggestions only. You assume all risk associated with physical activity undertaken in connection with or influenced by information provided by the App. RIKOOP is not responsible for injury, illness, or death resulting from physical activity. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before beginning or modifying any exercise program. If you experience pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, or any other symptoms during physical activity, stop immediately and seek medical attention.

10.4 Total Liability Cap

To the extent any liability is found, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid to RIKOOP in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $10.00 USD, whichever is greater.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless RIKOOP and its developers, officers, employees, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the App
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
  • Any physical activity undertaken in reliance on information provided by the App
  • Your violation of any third party's rights

12. Third-Party Services

RIKOOP integrates with Apple HealthKit, Apple Watch, the Apple App Store, and Apple iCloud. Your use of these services is governed by Apple's terms and policies. RIKOOP is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc.

Apple, Apple Watch, Apple Health, HealthKit, iCloud, and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.

13. Changes to the App

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any feature at any time with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the App. Material changes to what is included in active paid subscriptions will be communicated with reasonable notice.

14. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Upon termination your right to use the App ceases immediately. You may stop using the App at any time. Premium subscriptions must be cancelled through your Apple ID account settings.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Ontario, Canada, except that either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy at rikoop.com/privacy, constitute the entire agreement between you and RIKOOP regarding your use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
